In preparation of the release of Yasiin and Mannie Fresh’s upcoming LP, OMFGOD, we get the first leak from the project titled “Black Jesus”.

After seeing the them working in the studio, Mannie Fresh confirms that his OMFGOD project with Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) is complete and currently in the mixing stage. Keeping it to a feature-free 10-track project, Mannie shares some thoughts on the project.

We recorded way more than that. But rather than to [just] have somebody say like, ‘Oh, wow’ – I think a lot of times when you do that you throw away music. So, I just wanna give people like ten bangers and let’s be out.

Mos is a Hip Hop head, so it kinda came easy. And, by him being a Mannie Fresh fan, and me being his fan, it came real easy. And I think that’s the way the process should be. We should have fun. It was no stress; we didn’t have no budgets from nobody, we didn’t have nobody hanging over us, no A&Rs. It was just something that we decided to do.

Recently Yasiin Bey & Mannie Fresh were working in the studio together. Now some footage of them recording their “OMFGOD Pt. 3″ collaboration has surfaced.

Goapale released this on twitter, the Original song had Clyde Carson and appeared on her album, Change It All (from 2005). Given that Goapele is from the bay area, and the song was originally from 2005, the bay area was in “hyphy” mode and Clyde Carson of the team was pretty poppin in that area at the time. Her decision made sense at the time, but looking back now, it may have made more sense for her to use this Mos Def version.
